David Jowett Greaves Oxtoby is a painter, printmaker and teacher born in Horsforth, Yorkshire in 1938. He attended Bradford Regional College of Art, 1950-7; studied at the Royal Academy Schools, 1960-64; visiting professor at Minneapolis College of Art, USA, and then taught at Maidstone College of Art, London. Throughout his career, he has had many solo international one-man shows. His work is held by the Tate Gallery, V&A Museum, Cartwright Hall, Bradford, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
